Situated along the banks of Lake Travis at the threshold of the scenic Texas Hill Country, Lakeway is a tranquil yet vibrant community located just 20 miles west of downtown Austin. Education is a cornerstone of the Central Texas region and is a major reason so many flock to the area. Three highly regarded school districts serve the area:
Lake travis independent school district
(LTISD): The primary district serving Lakeway and Bee Cave communities. Recognized for rigorous academic programs, state-of-the-art facilities, and commitment to student achievement. Encompasses seven elementary schools, three middle schools, and one high school, with enrollment of approximately 11,000 students. - Lake Travis High School: The flagship institution and only high school in LTISD. Leander independent school district
(LISD): Serves communities to the north of Lakeway, including parts of Cedar Park and Leander. Known for many educational programs, dedicated staff, and strong community partnerships. One of the largest districts in Central Texas - includes 30 elementary schools, nine middle schools, and six high schools, serving approximately 42,000 students. Earned AP District of the Year in 2023 from the College Board - one of three chosen from more than 12,000 eligible schools nationwide.
